Greater Things Have Yet To Come

I had to work yesterday, so I took the kids to Grandma's as usual. Kaelin and Reece both love to listen to the radio and "sing" along. We were doing that as usual, then my favorite song came on. Chris Tomlin's "God of this City" is such a powerful song and it it struck such a deep part of my soul. The election did not turn out how I had hoped, but the truth of the matter remains that God is still in control and He knows best.

As I sat singing and praising, I was overcome with emotion at the sound of a little voice in the back seat. There she sat, strapped tightly in her car seat, yet every body part that she could move were moving in praise to God. With arms lifted up, she sang almost every word of the chorus correctly. I had no idea that she paid so much attention to the words of the song I listened to in the car, but she obviously did. She may not fully know the power of the words she was singing, but I do....and I was moved beyond words.

You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You Are

Bridge:
For there is no one like our God
There is no one like our God

Chorus 1:
Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things are still to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Verse 2:
You're the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You're the King above all Kings
You Are

You're the strength in our weakness
You're the love to the broken
You're the joy in the sadness
You Are

Chorus 2:
Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Where glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for you and love for you
In this city

Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things are still to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Hold fast.....Greater Things Have Yet To Come!!!!!!

This is a favorite of mine too...in fact, I just blogged about this exact same song! It was on my mind as I woke up the morning after the election.

Such powerful & comforting words!

Jenn, What a neat song. I don't think I've heard it. Love the words and the message is so fitting for my feelings to on the election too.
